A native of rural Montana, Kai is passionate about making health care affordable and reliable through serving in elected office. He is also eager to reform government by making the political process more accountable and honest.

In 2006-2007 Kai helped manage a State Senate campaign in Montana and worked with the Insurance Commissioner to advance a progressive health care agenda. He is also on the board of a non-profit that engages youth in politics. At Seattle University he serves as the student body VP of Finance, and volunteered on a service trip to Belize. Kai enjoys jazz music, working out, and wrestling with his two little brothers.
